Our Method

The Montessori Method

Our work method in combines several pedagogical schools of thought regarding early childhood education, but our main source of inspiration resides in the vision of Italian educator Maria Montessori (1870-1952).

The Montessori method is based on the belief that children are very interested in their own development, who love intellectual work and to learn from doing, which boosts the learning potential in each one of us. Children are the center of the educational process and the main role of educators is to create conditions for this process to occur.

An environment that’s both stimulating and welcoming is an important part of this process. Also important is an educator who respects the individuality of children as the form how they express themselves, their initiative and capacity to make choices. And that understands freedom as a condition for expanding human life.

At Monica’s School, Maria Montessori’s premises are implemented in the activities and games practiced with children, aimed at the development of their motor and sensorial skills and for acquiring abilities to adapt in practical life. Education is perceived in an integral manner.

Monica’s School provides an education that aims to prepare children for life.

The Montessori Method

“The environment must be rich in motives which lend interest to activity and invite the child to conduct his own experiences.” (Maria Montessori)

“Education is a natural process carried out by the child and is not acquired by listening to words but by experiences in the environment.” (Maria Montessori)

Globalized education and cultural diversity

Globalized Education

Our objective is to provide students a broad and integrated vision of the world around them.

The school’s day-to-day provides children a multicultural perspective. We value diversity through individual and collective experiences, while children build ways to see and respect themselves – i.e., their emotions and feelings – and others.

With this, we encourage the development of socio-emotional competencies so children can develop critical thinking, learn to be collaborative, resolve problems and make decisions.
